About AJP Training

I'm Alison Pugh, founder of AJP Training – a trusted provider of first aid and health and safety training in Hampshire, including Southampton and Portsmouth. With over 30 years’ experience in social care, the NHS, and local government, I’ve spent my career helping teams work safely, confidently, and in compliance with essential health and safety standards.


My training journey began in catering and hospitality before moving into health and social care. I was one of the first trainers in Hampshire to deliver manual handling of loads and later expanded into manual handling of people, fire marshal training, and first aid courses. Today, I deliver accessible, in-person training that’s designed to be practical, engaging and tailored to your team – whether you’re in a care home, office, gym, or hospitality setting.


I’ve seen first-hand how good first aid training can save lives – and how simple health and safety changes can prevent injuries, reduce staff absence, and build stronger teams. That’s why I do what I do. I’m proud to offer affordable first aid training in Southampton, Portsmouth and across Hampshire, with per-course pricing that makes it easy to train your whole team together.


Outside of work, I stay active in my local community through amateur dramatics, dance fitness, aquafit, and choir. I also serve as a child protection officer – keeping my safeguarding and risk assessment skills sharp in every area of life.

I deliver training across Hampshire, including anywhere within the SO and PO postcode areas. I come to your workplace, saving you travel time and making it easy to train your whole team together.

Not at all! While I have extensive experience in social care, I’ve recently trained a wide range of professionals including bar staff, golf club teams, factory workers, hairdressers and gym staff. My courses are suitable for any workplace.

Every business is different, so I recommend getting in touch for a personalised quote. And remember, unlike many providers, I charge per course, not per person, so you get great value for team training.

Basic first aid training covers essential life-saving skills including how to assess a situation, perform CPR, help someone who is choking, deal with bleeding, and respond to common injuries or emergencies. You'll learn how to act calmly and confidently in a crisis.

Most health and safety training is valid for three years, but it's recommended to refresh your knowledge regularly, especially for practical skills like first aid and manual handling. If it's been more than a couple of years since your last session, it’s a good time to book a refresher.
